An antiquarian Japanese Ko Tansu (personal storage breast) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood. All manus forged iron hardware including the Hikute drawer handles. and the Warabite side handles. Constructed using straight dovetail Japanese joinery also equally hardened wooden nails. Full moon lock plates, Atari handle stoppers and drawer forepart corner hardware complete this beautiful chest.

Antique Japanese small ko tansu made all of sugi (cryptomeria) wood with lovely raised akita sugi wood on the front. 3 large drawers with squared fe drawer pulls and rectangular locks. On the lower right hand portion are two small-scale drawers with ring pulls.

Japanese Antique Low Todana Tansu Sakuranoki (Cherry) & Keyaki Woods

Antique Japanese low Todana tansu with one large drawer and a compartment opened with sliding panels. More often than not fabricated of Sakuranoki (Red) forest, the sliders have horizontal slats over Keyaki (Zelkova) wood panels. Every bit well, the side panels of the tansu are also made of Keyaki. The sides and dorsum of the tansu are reinforced with sakura wood bracing. Hardware includes iron Warabite drawer pulls and lock on sliding panels.

A vintage Japanese Geta Bako (chest for shoe storage) fabricated of Tochinoki (Horse Chestnut) and Hinoki (Cypress) forest. Two sliding doors hide a storage area separated by 2 removable wood shelves. Bottom drawers provide additional storage.

The Geta Bako was traditionally used at the entrance to a Japanese habitation to allow family unit members to remove and store their shoes earlier inbound the abode.

The hardware was paw fabricated all of fe and includes round lock plates on each drawer and Kakute handles. The drawers are additionally reinforced by corner foliate decorative hardware.
